Project Description

A new artists studio has been built in the curtilage of a stone house on a hill on the outskirts of Bradford-on-Avon.  This garden needs to work hard – in a small space there is a compost system allowing the owner to see the progress of the flora and fauna in the organic matter, an apple hedge, a camomile lawn and room to sit and take in the view.  Planting needed to be dense and flowery with lots for pollinators to get stuck into.

The garden is free draining and slightly alkaline so the planting palette includes Caryopteris, Geum, Alchemilla, Lavender, Acatea, Eryngium, Erigeron and lots of Alliums.
