A tricky exposed chalk slope outside a semi detached house was transformed into a chic and private gravel garden with lush planting. The previously sun baked lawn is now a low maintenance, peaceful space with a Judas tree as a central feature. The drive has been widened and curved to enable easy access, sleepers are used to create three new terraces and a gravel mulch is used to highlight the vibrant planting. Acid greens, purples and deep pinks froth over the edges and brick details are used to link the house and garden.
“We commissioned Rosie to create a design for our problematic garden. Problematic because of its aspect, soil conditions and topography. In addition, we had previously rejected another design proposal for its complexity. Rosie was a paragon of creativity and implementation. Not only did she answer our challenging brief but understood our underlying sentiment for the garden. Her proposal was very well considered and supported by hand-rendered visuals, a disappearing skill. Rosie has a real passion for her craft and it shows”
