Site
A city-centre constrained multi-level garden across many levels, that needs to create outdoor rooms for a high-end property.
Brief
To create a series of intimate spaces that feel generous despite their scale, with planting that is both romantic and enduring; to add value to the house; including two dining areas.
Response / Design
Our clients have brought together several flats in a listed building in Bath to create one special townhouse. The garden is arranged as a sequence of rooms, connected through carefully handled changes in level and limestone and resin bound paving. Dining areas are set apart, offering privacy within a dense urban setting. Planting is layered to provide richness through the seasons, with roses at its heart. A vibrant summer display for entertaining. Structure is introduced through pleached hornbeam, while glimpses are retained towards the wider city, including views to the Royal Crescent. This is a small space packs a lot in and suits the high-end finish of this new home.
