“As architects, we love working with Rosie and her team; she is a positive force on any creative endeavour. She works collaboratively with the client and with all on the design team and always brings fresh ideas and perspectives to the project. She listens to her clients and works closely with them to deliver a unique, varied, delightful and harmonious landscape solution.
She always carefully considers the context of the site, both the buildings and features on the site itself, as well as the wider context of the site and its setting in the surrounding landscape, and she relishes the design challenges that present themselves as a result.
Her sound knowledge of plants, her plantswomanship, her experience with contracts and contractors, and her calm, cheerful and positive approach are tremendously reassuring. Her creative, artistic and aesthetic sensibilities are inspiring.
Our Thames riverside project with Rosie was a great success with a delightful landscape that looks better and better with the passing seasons, and, most importantly for us, sets off the built architecture to great advantage.”
“It has been a pleasure to engage Rosie with the local authority on a small but very important project in one of our heritage parks. Rosie’s designs and her attention to detail has been paramount to ensure that we are able to move the walkway project forward. We are lucky to have her involved.”
“Rosie and I worked together in late 2014 to design my garden in Priston, Bath. It is a new build property and the plot has a very challenging terrain. However, whilst the terrain is challenging there is huge potential to create something very special. In my opinion Rosie has interpreted the brief excellently and delivered a design which I am delighted with. I feel Rosie was able to provide the right mix of delivering to my ideas and suggestions whilst challenging these using her own expertise for the benefit of the project. I am looking forward to working with Rosie during the course of the construction and planting phases of the project and watching the garden come to life.”
“Rosie introduced herself to me some 18 months ago making an appointment to look at her portfolio of some of the various projects she has undertaken, I was very impressed with the extent of detail Rosie provides for each of her proposals. I had two major development projects that required full landscaping designs and I was interested to see what Rosie had to offer. During my consultation Rosie identified my requirements and preferences (of which she took full account) and included them within proposals making the very best of the spaces she had to work within. It was not long before Rosie called and said she had some drawings ready for me to appraise, the first drawing was a scaled site plan in detail showing everything from landscape lighting, security and general drive & pathway lighting proposals.
Positioning of things such as waste bins, patio finishes, barbeque and even out door pizza oven, detailed seating areas with many options, from a raised kitchen garden and herb garden… in fact Rosie will identify ones particular needs and address them all in full detail. The other drawings gave a colourful detailed account of plants and planting, along with a reference to each plant species. The final and most very important document Rosie presented me was her fixed price fee, an invoice that included everything and more than I ever expected.
The whole experience was very pleasant & enjoyable, the information proved very useful and informative enabling a clear perspective on my proposed landscape designs for the planning application I had pending.
Rosie truly knows her onions and responsibly does her homework before making proposals by taking soil samples, along with many other factoring points that could impact on a plants survival such as wind, wet grounds, dry well drained beds, underground springs or watercourses, frost, shaded areas, dense growths and so much more that was well beyond my knowledge.
“Rosie had an amazing ability to interpret my initial ideas. Using my favourite plants & colours within a small & restricted site, she has created my perfect garden. It never fails to delight me and has given my home a wow factor.”
Simon Hatch, Bath, Director, Hatch Builders of Bath (Property Development company)
“Working with Rosie takes the pressure off of the development process, and makes the whole landscape design and implementation a pleasure. She is a real professional and I will be using her services in the future.”
“We commissioned Rosie to create a design for our problematic garden. Problematic because of its aspect, soil conditions and topography. In addition, we had previously rejected another design proposal for its complexity. Rosie was a paragon of creativity and implementation. Not only did she answer our challenging brief but understood our underlying sentiment for the garden. Her proposal was very well considered and supported by hand-rendered visuals, a disappearing skill. Rosie has a real passion for her craft and it shows.”
“Having worked with Rosie on a number of her inspired designs it is clear that her attention to detail along with her vast product knowledge is key to delivering delightful gardens to a budget which the client can afford. Finishing the garden to such a high standard is a real pleasure at the end of a building project and makes a huge difference to our clients enjoyment of their house.”
“We had our garden designed and renovated by Rosie Nottage in May/ June 2011. Rosie worked with us and listened to what we wanted from our front and back garden. She then came back with a number of designs for us based on our needs and wishes. Rosie went on to create what can only be described as a perfect urban garden space for us. Our back garden has been transformed from a dark and uninviting space to a beautiful sunspot.
Rosie has created a huge seating area for us which we had not thought possible and has also given my husband his dream of a permanent BBQ which we have used constantly. Rosie also gave us a beautiful herb garden and vegetable patch – which we have already had lettuce, beetroot and beans from, this alongside a whole range of beautiful plants and shrubs that we would never have thought to consider. I can confidently say that our garden is now like another room to us because we get so much use from it, the front garden is elegant and we are always proud to arrive home to it. I would thoroughly recommend Rosie and her team.”
Amanda, Clapham, Roof terrace makeover
“Wow! Rosie exceeded all expectations. Not only did she really listen to me and get a good understanding of what would suit our garden, lifestyle and future requirements, but she came up with a great design which could be fulfilled within budget. Rosie went the extra mile with plant selection and tricks to ensure we got the best results without spending more than we wanted. I’d happily recommend Rosie for any garden design work”
“Rosie redesigned the planting in my garden as I wanted something with a lot more colour and interest for summer parties. My garden is transformed – it feels like an urban jungle. I especially love the vertical garden she designed in a courtyard within my property – its made a tricky space much more interesting and even the climbers that were there before have taken off. Her team are great – friendly, good value and really good at what they do.”
“Rosie redesigned our garden for us and took charge of the planting. We love the results. She is a pleasure to work with and we highly recommend her.”

Cathy, Tooting, Child friendly garden
“We’re delighted with our new garden and the kids are loving discovering all the new sights, smells and textures. Oh, and the bees love it too!”
“Rosie transformed a large patio area to complement our recent house renovation. Listening carefully to our brief she produced a creative design based on our wishes, site requirements and budget. The result is an area which is both family friendly and perfect for entertaining, and a beautiful planting selection to provide year round interest. I would certainly recommend Rosie Nottage Garden design to anyone.”
Stephanie, Putney, Trees & Associated Planting
“I asked Rosie to help as a huge chestnut tree was dominating the end of our garden – we needed to replace it, have some privacy and for the garden to be low maintenance. Rosie came up with a scheme with smaller trees and evergreen shrubs which has worked brilliantly, and has also rejuvenated the borders in the rest of the garden. Rosie was professional and full of good ideas – very good from start to finish and she really did a fantastic job. I would strongly recommend her.”
