Brief
We’ll be working alongside the architects to resolve changes in level, renovate a swimming pool, frame the entrance to the house and create a sense of romance and wonder.
Response / Design
We have identified ways to position steps and entrances around the pool and work with the existing structure. The surrounds of the garden are formality; a dinner jacket without the bow tie. Dining terraces are on cobbles with soft edges, paths are mown rather than paved, views out are suggested and not immediately obvious. We are designing this garden to be a magnet for a family to grow up and return to, creating places and memories with a strong sense of place. We are working on the site with a long-term view and will be working in phases and stages without rushing, giving time for each intervention to settle and pause before making the next.
