Project Description
The Eden Project were looking for a solution for a small strip of land along the edge of the Mediterranean Biodome, and for the entrance from the main car park.
I designed a barefoot walkway for the edge of the biodome, where visitors can remove their shoes and walk through increasingly complex plants before washing their feet. Circus mirrors are used to conceal the large air handling units which power the biodome, and spires of driftwood help to guide visitors as well as remind them of how close they are to the sea.
In the entrance, the brief was to create a low key planting scheme which would help to blend the cornish landscape with the treats to be found in the Eden Project itself. I designed a scheme using native hawthorn, spring bulbs and Acer griseum trees to give year round interest. An area is included for art installations which can be changed throughout the year.
