Project Description
A gorgeous Georgian townhouse backs onto the Kennett & Avon canal and is being extended. My brief was to create an elegant town garden in which to enjoy the canal, whilst still having a degree of privacy. A sunken seating area (flush with the internal level of the house) gives space for a coffee in the morning next to three large olive trees in Skagerak planters from Salcombe Trading.
The rest of the garden is then reached via York stone bullnose steps and includes an olive ‘hedge,’ with four Buxus parterres of box filled with Caryopteris, Iris, Verbena, Tulips, Astelia, Artemesia, Allium, Wisteria and Trachelospermum. The planting is designed to be full of flower and fragrance, in cool blues and whites.
